Gigi Wu, 36, built up a large following on Instagram by posting photos of her climbing escapades just wearing a bikini.
She braved the often poor weather on some of Taiwan’s highest peaks for her hobby and became a celebrity.
But it was her lack of clothing, though, that proved fatal when she fell down a 65ft ravine in Taiwan’s Yushan national park, on the eighth day of a solo hike.
The conditions left rescuers unable to reach her, with the star freezing to death.

Hundreds of her fans took to social media to pay tribute.
One of them wrote: “I didn’t expect the ending to be sad, may you look around the mountains and be a beautiful angel.”
She was able to send an SOS message and that she couldn’t move but weather conditions meant that rescue helicopters couldn’t take off.
Finally a rescue party had to go on foot and her body was located 28 hours after her call for help.

Commander Lin Cheng-I, head of Nantou County Fire Department’s Third Squadron, said that Gigi’s distress beacon was set-off at 1,700ms where the temperature dropped to 2C at night.
In 2018, she revealed that she spent 127 days hiking but she did have a nasty fall on Christmas eve.
Afterwards she posted images of her bruised legs and admitted she was lucky to survive.

Perhaps rename the mountains where she died as Bikini Peaks to honour her stupidity? LOL
